AN INTERVIEW WITH JOHN OZUNA

ARTIST’S HOUSE: Who is John Ozuna as a person? How would you describe yourself?

JOHN OZUNA: I’m a simple, basic kinda guy.

ARTIST’S HOUSE: You are an amazing actor and martial arts fighter. How did your career start? Did you wake up one day and say “I will become a martial arts fighter who plays in movies”?

JOHN OZUNA: We all have our heroes growing up. Mine was Bruce Lee. I was in awe of his ability, intensity and screen presence.

ARTIST’S HOUSE: What does your everyday routine usually look like?

JOHN OZUNA: My day typically starts with walking my cat Amelia, then it’s addressing movie business, KO Kung Fu business, training and preparing for that next role.

ARTIST’S HOUSE: Speaking of acting, what was your first role and with whom did you play in the movie?

JOHN OZUNA: Enter The Fire, I played a stunt fighter. It starred Lou Ferrigno. My first major role was in the movie Infinity Project. It was a sci-fi action movie. I played Agent Ramsay.

ARTIST’S HOUSE: Which do you prefer more…being an actor or a martial arts fighter? Is one of them more fulfilling than the other?

JOHN OZUNA: I enjoy both equally. Each has its unique challenges and rewards. In both cases, if you can stimulate emotions from the viewer, then I know I did my job.

ARTIST’S HOUSE: What are your goals for the future?

JOHN OZUNA: My goals are the same as always. To improve each day, apply what I’ve learned in every aspect of my life, then share what I’ve learned with others.

ARTIST’S HOUSE: Your biggest dream?

JOHN OZUNA: I’m truly living my dream every day.

ARTIST’S HOUSE: Favorite food?

JOHN OZUNA: Oh my goodness, I love all kinds of foods from all over the world, but donuts are my weakness.

ARTIST’S HOUSE: If you had a chance to choose your partner to play with in a movie, who would it be and why?

JOHN OZUNA: That's a good question. I’ve had the privilege of working with so many talented actors. Not one person comes to mind at the moment.

ARTIST’S HOUSE: How do you feel when watching yourself on the big screen? What was it like seeing yourself in a movie for the first time?

JOHN OZUNA: I rarely watch the work I’ve been in, but I think every actor goes through the same process. We watch ourselves with a critical eye and always ask ourselves, “What could I have done better?”

ARTIST’S HOUSE: If you think about your life from a martial arts point of view, what is the most important part for you about being a martial arts fighter? What gives you that power to continue?

JOHN OZUNA: Martial arts has been part of my life for over fourty years. It guides and drives to always strive for the next level of enlightenment. It has been there for me in the worst of times and in the best of times.
